Breaking Point: Mutant Nest Environment Concepts
Some environment thumbs Photobashed for the mutant nest environments of Breaking Point. For many of the pieces I was heavily inspired by the works of Zdzisław Beksiński and his nightmare paintings as well as The Flood from halo. The infection spreads through the environment by consuming biomatter and reforming it into cocoons and nests in the dark corners of a crumbling civilization.
For these photobashed thumbs, I was exploring how the mutant infection would consume and overrun an environment.
The bony growths of the organism prefer warm, dark and moist environments. Nearly every subterranean environment of breaking point is deep behind the enemy lines of mutant territory.
Tendrils of flesh snaking their way across all surfaces it can reach. Like arteries, webbing out from a corrupt apex.
In this piece, I was exploring an infection on a grander scale. Finger-like tendrils climb their way up buildings until they reach the rooftops. Running out of surfaces to corrupt, the finger-like tendrils reach further into the sky.
The growths spread through any available space, including tight stairways. The infection reaching the next stage of its life cycle, swelling with bile filled pustules.
A nursery for fresh mutants. The warm, moist environment of an indoor pool perfect for developing blisters, filled with amniotic bile. Within, Foetal mutants develop into horrors ready to erupt into the world.
A mass grave of previously consumed victims. Their biomatter repurposed into tendrils that spiderweb the terrane. Converting an old train tunnel into a sallow chasm of decay and twisted new life.
